One of the most appealing points of the Runna coaching plans is the cost! At £15.99 a month, or £100/year, I think the plans are really good value for money, especially if you consider you have access to so many different running plans PLUS strength training. I started following the Improver 5K training plan back in March 2023 and really enjoyed the training, in particular, the ease and efficiency of the strength training.
Enhances Running Form and Coordination

It could be a replacement for Fitbit’s old community features, Groups and Challenges, which have been axed despite massive protests from the Fitbit community. Just as you can imagine runners share their highs and lows when it comes to their running, allowing you to react and comment. Some runners ask some interesting questions, with the answers applicable to everyday running. The support section is also insightful, with guides on training for a goal, nutrition for runners and even injury management. If you’re curious to see what a personalised training plan can do for you, you can get two weeks free with the code RWR2.

Anya is a Lululemon-sponsored marathoner and England representative whose remarkable rise in running proves it’s never too late to chase bold goals. She brings energy, relatability, and passion to everything she does. “Training program really adapted to my goals that got me motivated to run again and get ‘back in my groove’.” As running is essentially a series of single-leg movements (you never have both feet on the ground), it’s essential to train your body to handle the unique challenges of single-leg loading. Hasticat (via Instagram) said she loved the plan but that she did find the paces a bit too fast on the long runs.
Garmin connectivity appeals to serious athletes who rely on advanced GPS watches. Runna automatically uploads structured workouts to your Garmin device, complete with pace targets and interval specifications. Post-workout data flows back to the app for analysis and plan adjustments. Modern runners use various devices to track their workouts, and Runna accommodates this reality. The app syncs with Apple Watch, Garmin devices, Fitbit trackers, Coros watches, and Strava.

Once you establish a running base and set specific goals, upgrading to Runna makes more sense. Apple Watch integration stands out as particularly polished. The watch app displays workout instructions, current pace, target zones, and remaining time or distance. Haptic feedback alerts you to pace changes or interval transitions without checking your wrist constantly.
Free Plan for Beginner Runners
I was only able to commit to two weekly training runs, but the platform let me choose the days that worked for me, and easily adjust them at the last minute whenever life got in the way. You see, while I’ve always counted myself as a runner, I’m far from the “covering 70km-plus per week” or “training for an ultra” camps. Elite athletes may still benefit from personalized human coaching.
Easy Run
The right balance helps you train harder, bounce back quicker, and keep building strength week after week. Full body workouts bring balance, working both upper and lower body together. By building strength head-to-toe, you’ll move with better coordination and resilience, making every run smoother and more efficient. Stay consistent and you’ll build resilience, power, and efficiency that translates directly into stronger running. Designed by our world-class coaches and physios who know exactly how runners should train for strength without losing mileage. Stronger glutes and hamstrings drive you forward with more power, while calves and Achilles tendons absorb impact and return energy with each step.

I used this running app for 16 weeks — and I broke my personal record
There are also plans for non-race-related goals, like a Get Fit Plan and a Post-Injury Plan for those who are easing back in after time off. The plans all come with optional strength, mobility, and Pilates workouts, and they’re all customized to your fitness level, time mad muscle reviews commitment, and preferences. The personalized approach creates training plans specifically for your goals and capabilities. This customization produces better results than generic programs. The expert coaching foundation ensures workouts follow proven training principles used by elite athletes. These expert-backed tips will help you move better, recover faster, and stay consistent.
Personalized plan
It is important to remember that not all plans work for every runner. Some will do better with higher mileage, some with lower mileage. Although all the Runna plans follow the same style and training philosophy, I like that the plan allows you to adjust your number of runs per week from 3-6 days per week. The real issue is whether a plan adapts appropriately to fatigue, recovery, and injury risk. A human-designed plan can still feel too aggressive if it doesn’t adjust to the individual using it.
How to Add Stretch & Stability to Your Plan
I was heavy and breathless, and when I looked back at my previous record speeds from days gone by, felt convinced I could never run that fast now. Other run coaches and users have been saying similar things. One coach says the app fails to account for fatigue, which could easily cause injury.
Half Marathon Plan
You need a subscription to access your programmed workouts from Week 2 and beyond. The one-week free trial unlocks everything from Week 1, and you can continue to do those workouts even after the trial expires, for example if you didn’t fit everything in during Week 1. You can also transfer the Week 1 workouts to your Garmin device, but once you’re a paying customer you’ll be able to sync two weeks of workouts at a time. Take your running to the next level with Runna. We provide world-class training, coaching and community for everyone, whether you’re improving your 5k time or training for your first marathon.
